Wine
It is almost impossible to think about Burgundy without thinking about its wines - whether your choice is red, white or sparkling – you will find some of the most prestigious vineyards the world has to offer. To Burgundy “wine is more than a simple beverage, it is an embodiment of the culture, a ‘wine civilisation’…..”
Being equidistant from the vineyards of Chablis & Auxerrois, the UNESCO world heritage inscribed Climats of The Route des Grand Crus, the southernmost Champagne growing area and the Route de Crémant - The Moulin is ideally situated to explore (and sample) them all.
Explore on your own, or perhaps join one of the many options for guided tours of the region (including by bike). Alternatively, concentrate on a single producer – as you wish. There is also the option of just popping into town to Oenothèque the local specialist wine shop – or even the supermarket. Whichever you decide, you won’t be disappointed.

Gastronomy
It’s not just Burgundian vineyards which are world famous. It is also home to flagship products such as: Charolais beef, Bress poultry, Pain d’épices (spiced honey cake), Dijon mustard, Epoisses cheese, Gougeres (balls of warm dough mixed with cooked cheeses) and Blackcurrants (think Crème de Cassis). And, of course, who hasn’t heard of dishes such as Beef Bourguignon, Coq au Vin and Escargots de Bourgogne. Not forgetting the perhaps lesser known Pôchouse Bourguignonne - a traditional freshwater fish stew.
Food markets displaying the best local produce (as well as that from slightly further afield) abound. Try the Halles de Dijon or the Marche de Beaune on market days. Both very different but both full of gastronomic spectacles and aromas to arouse your senses.
Dijon - much more than mustard
“We absolutely loved this beautiful part of France and the icing on the cake was staying at our wonderful ‘home’ for the week. It has been furnished to a very high standard. The bed is incredibly comfortable and it was super to be able to have a bath or a shower. We loved relaxing in the evening outside with a glass of wine before we strolled into town for dinner. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need to self cater as well. It was the little touches that we just loved - the scent of the Baobab diffuser; the quality of the toiletries; the linen throws draped on the chairs; the art work on the walls and the soft fluffy towels. A truly wonderful week away and we can not recommend it highly enough.”
